About Natural Selection Skin Care Products

Natural Selection soap was started in 2000 in the kitchen of company founder Jean Vavra with the notion of creating a line of hand-made soaps that luxuriate one's skin. Each bar of soap is hand-stirred in small batches, poured into hand-made molds and cut and cured before it's sold to the public. This process preserves the natural glycerin of the saponification (soap production) process, the main ingredient of keeping your skin soft and supple.

Natural Selection's handmade soap takes almost a month to cure. Most commercial soap companies, in order to double their profits, extract the natural glycerin and sell it on the side. They end up using tallow (animal fat) since it is cheaper than vegetable oil, even though it can clog your pores. Natural Selection products are made of shea butter, jojoba, sweet almond, palm kernel, castor and coconut oils and were originally formulated for Vavra's own son. It was so moisturizing and gentle Natural Selection converted all their soaps to this formulation.
